Drama
Drama at Sarum Hall is both cross-curricular and taught as a discrete subject. Girls in Years 1 to 3 have one drama lesson per week with a specialist teacher and drama may also be incorporated into English lessons. In Year 4, girls work towards an English Speaking Board examination, for which pupils have to prepare a speech, recite a poem and read aloud an extract from a chosen reading book.
Outside of the classroom, girls have many opportunities to perform, including a weekly performance assembly and productions which take place throughout the academic year. Each class also performs in an assembly once a term to which parents are invited. Drama club is available to girls in Years 5 and 6 and all year groups visit the theatre at least once a year.
One of the much-anticipated highlights of the school year is the Year 6 production which takes place each Summer Term. Under the direction of the drama teacher and the Head of English, the girls take on the challenge of a musical or play, such as The Tempest or Treasure Island and consistently delight family, friends and staff with the high standard of these performances.
