Information Communication Technology (ICT)
We believe that ICT has an important part to play in enriching children’s learning experiences, both as a tool and as a source for research and information.
Sarum Hall's innovative ICT classroom is designed to encourage every girl to become a confident, autonomous user of a wide range of technological resources along with an understanding of the major role that ICT plays in 21st-century life. In the face of continually changing hardware and software today's pupils require increasingly transferable skills and a flexibility of approach which they can apply to numerous situations.
The girls use applications creatively to produce presentations, videos, photography, animations and simple programming along with acquiring skills to help support work in other curriculum subjects. As well as developing independence the importance of discussion and sharing of experiences, along with collaborative work for more extended projects, is an important part of the curriculum.
Sensible and monitored use of the internet in school encourages discussion about its benefits and drawbacks and this in turn feeds into project work. An emphasis is placed on the understanding of responsible and safe use of tools such as email and blogging.
