The School Building

The school building is located in award-winning purpose-built premises at 15 Eton Avenue.

The school moved into its current premises in 1995 after 60 years of operation in a converted Victorian House, also on Eton Avenue.  The cohesiveness and intimacy of the original school was recreated by focusing activities around a central stair hall. Classrooms are placed to the rear of the site, while the more individual spaces – the hall, dining room, science and art rooms – are located along the street to produce an appropriately rich and varied elevation to the avenue of late nineteenth-century houses. The school is built largely in red brick, punctuated by recessed panels of white render which express the main interior spaces and highlight entrances.

The architects were Allies and Morrison, and the building won the following awards:
RIBA Award 1996, Civic Trust Award 1996, The Royal Fine Art Commission Trust Building of the Year Award 1996.

The school operates a continual programme of refurbishment to ensure its facilities are always modern and state of the art.

“Why did we choose Sarum Hall? Its reputation and our observations on the school’s value system and pastoral care, and how they raise the girls in addition to educating them. Also their commitment to music, the arts and extra-curricular activities.”
