At Sarum Hall School, we are proud to be a non-selective school where every child is supported to make meaningful progress.
We have a robust assessment and monitoring system in place, enabling us to track attainment across a range of areas and adapt our provision to meet the needs of our pupils.
Every child learns differently. At Sarum Hall School, we use adaptive teaching strategies to respond to the individual strengths and needs of all pupils. This means adjusting our approach, resources, and support to remove barriers to learning, so that every child can access the curriculum and meet the expectations of each lesson.
Extension
We identify pupils who consistently perform above and beyond age-related expectations. All teachers are responsible for ensuring that more able and exceptionally able pupils are appropriately challenged within their lessons.
A broad range of extra-curricular activities—academic and non-academic—further supports these pupils in extending their interests and developing their talents.
Learning Support
Our Head of Learning Support works closely with teachers to identify pupils’ specific needs and determine the most effective way to address them. Support may take place one-to-one, in a small group, or through adaptive teaching within the classroom. Sessions may be held in our dedicated Learning Support room or within the class setting, depending on what best suits the child.
We place strong emphasis on working in partnership with parents to ensure each child is well supported. The Head of Learning Support maintains regular contact with families of the pupils she works with to help each child reach their full potential.
English as an Additional Language (EAL)
Our pupils come from a wide range of cultural and linguistic backgrounds, and for some, English is an additional language. Language development is supported and monitored by Form Teachers, and where appropriate, pupils may receive individual or small group sessions to enhance their confidence and fluency in English.
