Belsize Park, London, Friday 17 March 2022: – Sarum Hall School, an independent prep school for girls in London’s Belsize Park, held another of its popular ‘Food Fayre’s’ to raise money for various charities on Friday 11th March.

Despite heavy rain fall and winds, the school community turned out in force to support local independent food businesses such as Rise & Shine Baking, Vaana Spices, DIRTEA and many more.

The Food Fayre is the third held since October and brings the running total of charitable giving from these events to over £3000.

The school has a strong food culture at its heart, and even built its own Food Studio in 2018 which was opened by Dame Mary Berry. Girls as young as 5 enjoy lessons in the facility. The school encourages entrepreneurialism and is keen to work with young start-up businesses, and so the regular Food Fayre’s are a natural extension of the school’s ethos. This time, pupils in Years 5 and 6 had their own initiatives and businesses selling earrings and crochet animals, as well as initiatives and products to support an ‘Adopt a Panda’ scheme.

Headmistress Miss Victoria Savage commented:

“Food is an integral part of life at Sarum Hall School. It ensures the wellbeing of the whole school community, and we are fortunate to have our own purpose-built teaching kitchen on site. We love to hold these Food Fayres as they are a great way for us to be able to support local businesses and underline our admiration for local food entrepreneurs. The children of Sarum Hall particularly embrace these events as they encourage community spirit, as well as benefiting very worthy charities at the same time.”

“Why did we choose Sarum Hall? Its reputation and our observations on the school’s value system and pastoral care, and how they raise the girls in addition to educating them. Also their commitment to music, the arts and extra-curricular activities.”
