KS2

Key Stage 2 consists of Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. Each class has a form tutor who is responsible for the girls’ pastoral care. There are also two Key Stage Two Teaching and Learning Assistants who work with these classes.

Subject specialist teaching increases as our girls progress through the school, with the introduction in Year 3 of science teaching. In Year 4, Mandarin is taught in addition to French, Physical Education (PE), art, music and computing already taught by subject specialists. The girls also work towards an English Speaking Board examination in drama. In Years 5 and 6 girls, our girls are taught by a specialist humanities teacher.

Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning skills are developed from Years 4 to 6. In Years 5 and 6, Thinking and Study Skills are incorporated into the curriculum as part of their preparation for senior school life. The curriculum remains broad and balanced, and preparation for the 11+ exams in Year 6 begins in Year 5.

After the girls in Year 6 have obtained their 11+ results in the Spring Term, they practise and perform in a dramatic production through which they further develop acting, singing and dancing skills. Pupils in Years 4 to 6 go on residential trips which, as well as being great fun, encourage independence and teamwork skills.

“My daughter is happy and enjoys her school experience immensely. She often surprises us with the breadth of her knowledge.”

“Why did we choose Sarum Hall? Its reputation and our observations on the school’s value system and pastoral care, and how they raise the girls in addition to educating them. Also their commitment to music, the arts and extra-curricular activities.”

Sarum Hall parent

“I think she is being extremely well taught in a very nurturing environment.”

WHERE NEXT?

Covid-19 Curriculum

We have transferred our usual educational provision into a Remote Learning Programme which maintains the curriculum input for pupils from Reception up to Year 6. The programme replicates our days in school with live lessons delivered for all subjects. Our programme can be accessed via the Sarum Hall Remote Learning Portal. The school will remain open for the Nursery class and Key Worker children until Monday 8th March, when we welcome back pupils in all year groups.
