KS2

Key Stage 2 consists of Years 3, 4, 5 and 6. Each class has a form tutor who is responsible for the girls’ pastoral care and a Teaching and Learning Assistant to support them.

Subject specialist teaching increases as our girls progress through the school, with the introduction in Year 2 of science teaching. From Reception, modern foreign languages, physical education (PE), music and computing are taught by subject specialists.  In Year 1, art & design is taught be specialists.  In Years 5 and 6 girls, our girls are taught by a specialist English, maths and humanities teachers.

Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning skills are developed from Years 4 to 6. In Years 5 and 6, Thinking and Study Skills are incorporated into the curriculum as part of their preparation for senior school life. The curriculum remains broad and balanced, and preparation for the 11+ exams in Year 6 begins in Year 5.

After the girls in Year 6 have obtained their 11+ results in the Spring Term, they practise and perform in a dramatic production through which they further develop acting, singing and dancing skills. Pupils in Years 4 to 6 go on residential trips which, as well as being great fun, encourage independence and teamwork skills.
